50 Questions that will free your mind.

1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
This is a really weird question. I understand that these are supposed to be thought provoking but it is like trying to not think about pink elephants once mentioned. You’re thinking about pink elephants now, aren’t you. There are days where I feel so much older than the 27 years I have been alive. I feel like I am 40 when it comes to my mental state and 50 when it comes to my physical state. My knees, ankles, and back are so screwed up that I feel so very, very old.

2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
Never trying.

“Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.”
Sir Winston Churchill

We learn from our mistakes and failures. If we are too terrified of failing, we will never truly live. When we take that first, courageous step and actually succeed? It is the best feeling in the world and you feel like you can do anything. It is far better to attempt and fail than it is to cower in the corner and shy away from the possibility of failure.

3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
Because humans crave being accepted and being a part of the crowd. It is why social networks are so popular. Most of the things we don’t like are things that society would frown upon if they were not done. Social outcasts do the things they like, regardless of what society approves of. But secretly, we all want to be rebellious which is why we like the things we don’t do.

4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
Probably. I talk a lot. But sometimes, that talking is the doing. So I think I will come out more on the even side of things.

5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
Intolerance. Religion, sexual preference, et cetera; if everyone in the world would be more tolerant, there would be a lot less anger and fighting. People wouldn’t be ‘driven to’ suicide because of the intolerance that surrounds them. Many problems tend to stem from one or two base ideas and I believe that intolerance is in the top two. People will kill and die for their religious beliefs, foisting them upon others because anything different is wrong and cannot be tolerated. People have been killed because of their sexual preferences. At what point is it okay to kill for what you believe in. Religious beliefs, to me, are a choice that is usually not one we make ourselves until later in life. Our parents or guardians shape our beliefs, molding us so that we believe as they do. Free will is what allows us to have beliefs in the first place. As we age, we choose whether to embrace the beliefs of our parents or we choose to go down a different path. Because of these choices, people must die? No. I don’t think so. What higher power would honestly want us to do such a thing?

6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
Rescuing unwanted/abused animals and children. I realize that it is probably going to give me a couple social black-marks for linking animals with children but I see them as similar types of beings. They are, for the most part, helpless creatures who act upon instinct and cannot fend off the humans who harm them or abandon them. I am a huge advocate of animal rescues, be them domestic or wild. It is more difficult to rescue children because there are so many legal processes in place but this is the type of work I would do and be most happy with.

About Me

"So I'm a little left of center. I'm a little out of tune..." I am a 20-something redheaded woman. I do not give out my exact age not out of paranoia or a sense of being old but because I am too lazy to make sure this is always up to date every year after my birthday. I am not looking for love, I am not looking for children, and I am not exactly your average single female. I am a geek at heart as well as a secret princess. I have the soul of a gypsy while craving Home. I am diplomatic and am allergic to drama. And coconuts. And anything in the onion family. I have two cats, Charlie and Lili. But most importantly, I am not afraid of who I am.
