I didn’t go to bed until around 4:30am or so, finally managing to crawl in next to Mika and Angie on the floor of the bedroom we’d all taken over at Mike’s house after his Halloween Party. No bed. Just floor on a couple blankets. After a couple hours, I couldn’t take it anymore and got up; my body was aching in every way imaginable and the knee injury that I’ve been nursing flared back up.
Around 7am I wandered downstairs and into the kitchen to see a woman passed out on the floor. I checked to be sure she was breathing and she stirred. She was okay. Just drunk. I guzzled a couple glasses of water and then went back upstairs for another hour of painful sleep.
I think I fared better than my companions. I laid off the sugary drinks after the first one; I was pleasantly buzzed but anymore sugar and I would be throwing up. Mika introduced me to gin and tonics though I requested that the lime be substituted with lemon. Yum! Refreshing. Mike kept pushing the jello shots on her (he learned quickly that I wasn’t going to take them, no matter how many times he asked) and it was pretty much her undoing. Poor thing.
We all headed home in the morning and I promptly went and crawled in my own bed to pass out for a few hours.
Later on, we all just kind of chilled and waited to see if any Trick-or-Treaters would show up. We had a whopping two visits to the door. What the heck? Apparently last year, they ran out of candy. But it was a no-show this year pretty much. Odd.
Happy Halloween, everyone!

I made candy sushi today!
I forgot how much I actually hate making rice krispy treats. I don’t like being sticky. I’m a little OCD on that front. But I had to make them for the “sushi” so I just did what needed to be done… and made a mess while doing so. They came out cute!
Rice krispy treats to represent the rice, gummi worms to represent the fish within the roll, and green fruit roll-up on the outside to act as the seaweed. Then the nigiri were swedish fish set on a piece of treat with a thin piece of fruit roll-up around it.
I had made them for the Halloween party at Mike’s house. When I brought them in, he looked at me like I was insane. But they were a hit! People thought they were adorable and they got eaten. (Edit: By morning, the nigiri were almost all gone.) I was proud of myself. Just a random treat for Halloween. And now that I’ve done them once, I know that I can do them again… provided I can find more green fruit roll-ups. I had gotten lucky in that Target was selling some minis with Shrek tongue tattoos. It was the first time I was able to find green ones since I started my search over a month ago.

A new thing I have decided to do: Friday Favorites. Twitter does it, so why not me? My favorites are a little different. Every week I am going to focus on things that I have an obsession with in some way. Maybe someone will learn something new about me. Maybe I will just highly enjoy fangirling every week.
We’re going to start with Nightwing of the Batman (DC Comics) fame. Richard “Dick” Grayson was the first Robin. He is the Robin everyone knows about. When Dick tried to break away from being Batman’s shadow, he took on the Nightwing moniker. It was the 80′s and he was given some very bad fashion by the comic creators. But it fit in with the 80′s. Then he got his revamp. That is when I fell in love. I wasn’t too old yet but damn if he wasn’t high on my list of favorite males. Nevermind that he wasn’t real at all. Not even an actor to swoon over.
When he was introduced in the animated series… es… I only fell more in love. Being able to see him in motion was a dream. I don’t care that it was someone else’s vision; he was every bit as kick-ass as I had always seen him in my head. I could care less about his civilian persona or how much of a man-whore he is within the DC universe (because you know he is!)… I love Nightwing. Mmm. Yum.
Back when I was writing fanfiction, back before fanfiction.net even existed–man I’m old, my first DC comic focus was within the Batman fandom. Nightwing was the focus. Forget the Batman. I wanted more Nightwing and if I could only get it by writing it? So be it.
Fast forward to about a decade and a half later and I was collecting the comic books finally, pouring over them with a voracity that I had only displayed with books previously. I wanted to see more of this gorgeous, costumed man. I won’t even go into how much money was spent by both myself and Rick in getting me everything that was available. Needless to say, it was a lot. But so very, very worth it. Everyone has their favorite comic book characters. Nightwing was one of two of my favorite DC characters. Plain and simple.
At Comic Con this year, I ran into a decent Nightwing cosplayer… while wearing my Nightwing shirt. I asked him if I could have my picture taken with him and he looked at me in surprise. He then grinned after seeing my shirt, complimented it, and posed with me. Made the Top 5 Moments of my SDCC2010 experience. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am just that much of a geek.

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now… wish right now.
Lots of sitting around and doing nothing today. But it’s been nice having Mika around =D Haven’t heard back yet in regards to a possible job; supposedly I am to hear back from them no later than tomorrow and to call them on Monday if I have not heard either way by then. It would be nice to get something even if the pay is crap; the fact that I would be working from home is the best part since I can baby my car and work toward getting a new one. If I can at least get the crappy-paying part time job to carry me through my bill payments, I can buy myself more time in getting something better planned out. I would have preferred something full time but apparently their full time positions are few and far between.
I just need to stop feeling… lost. Which is funny because I feel content in many ways but like I am disappointed in myself for not striking out and taking the bull by the horns.

What a cute kitty! Mika arrived today from San Diego. Robby picked her up from the airport and brought her home with him. I like saying it like that because it makes her sound like a stray. (I RUV ROO! HA HA HA!)
So it’s been kind of funny watching Moki freak out about someone new in the house. When I first arrived, she’d been a little nervous but had taken to me pretty quickly. She doesn’t want to come out from under the couch unless she has to. I think that she was a little traumatized by her vet visit when she was spayed.
No word from TeleTech yet, of course, though I have been getting a lot of e-mails in regards to my posted resume on monster.com – and they’re all scams of one sort of another. Lovely. In this economy, these people have got to be raking in the dough from the desperate, ignorant people of this country. Meanwhile, I finally submitted everything to Chase to work on my own little piece of fraud so I should hopefully be getting that money back by Monday.
But yay! Mika is here

I had my phone interview today.
I am not at all optimistic about getting a job offer from them. I try to think positive but the interview was a group interview and handled poorly. On top of that, the woman confused me with another woman in the group interview–Kristin… with an I. And that woman was a moron. So if she’d made some judgments on the other chick, she probably wrongfully attributed it to ME and wasn’t corrected until near the end of the interview in our own one on one.
She just was not a good interviewer. At all. At one point, we had a group ’round table’ discussion and suddenly she was asking us if we had all gotten a chance to speak and which example we’d decided upon as well as who was going to present the example to her. Wait, what? When did that become part of the ‘assignment’? The whole thing was very frustrating. And because I was on a cellphone, she wanted me (and the six or seven others who were) to go on a landline instead. Well. I don’t have one yet. At the end of the interview, people were asking questions and it came up that someone was asking about getting a landline.
This woman actually said that we should be getting our landline situation taken care of before we were even offered a job. Um, what? So let me get this straight: you want us to dole out the money for installation on the chance that we may be offered a job. And then what happens if we don’t get it? We’re stuck with a landline that we didn’t want and now have to pay for?
She was finally corrected and agreed that we should wait until we were offered a job and accepted. But went on to say that we had to have it set up before training began. Well, no kidding.
*sigh*

I didn’t go to bed until around 5:30 in the morning. I just wasn’t tired and couldn’t have even gone to sleep if I’d tried. So what was the point in stressing myself out by laying in bed and staring at the ceiling? So I worked on the project I mentioned previously. Nothing much, just a few things here and there.
I finally fell asleep around 6:30 or so and woke up three hours later with the full knowledge that I wasn’t going to sleep any longer than that. So I got up.
I’m running off of three hours of sleep and it would be really nice to know why my body has suddenly decided to pull this crap. I don’t get it.

My wrist is killing me. My shoulder has been hurting all day, to the point where the pain is so severe that it is shooting down my arm and effecting my wrist and hand. It’s just one of those knots that is apparently in the perfect spot to cause me the most amount of pain possible.
I had all these intentions of being productive at the computer for a new project I’m working on with the girls (Angel, Jenn, and Mika) but the pain was so severe that it hurt just to sit at the computer. So I watched some random television with Robby. Something from Shark Week and then something about huge cargo ships that I believe was from the modern marvels series. I don’t even know. To be honest, I don’t remember much of the evening.
Mika arrives in a few days! It will be Halloween this weekened. And then November pops in to say HI! Man. Time is flying!

Kyle turned 18 today. It makes me feel incredibly old because I raised him when he was a baby. He was born 18 years ago. 18 years ago, my life went to Hell. Which makes it sound like it’s his fault but it’s not.
I found this picture of him today while I was cleaning the bedroom and going through boxes that I haven’t yet unpacked. It is of his second Halloween. He was a year old at the time and was dressed in footie pajamas with a Treasure Troll headpiece that had a bib (remember the baby trolls? anyone?) attached to it. The best part? The purple troll hair. In the picture, Kelly was off to side, dressed up as Wolverine and trying to get Kyle to smile for the camera.
It is one of my favorite pictures. I’m glad that I somehow managed to end up with it.

When I was across the country and an airplane ride away, I was more ‘in the loop’ on family events than I am now. I am a six hour drive away now. It would take me less time to drive, now, than it would have taken me to fly across the country.
And yet it took almost three hours before I was told about my grandfather having a heart attack today. In fact, no one was going to tell me. No one thought to tell me. It took my youngest brother calling our father, who has no part in that side of the family since the divorce, for Dad to point out that someone should call me and let me know what was going on. Secondary to that is another issue going on that I cannot speak of because I was sworn to secrecy and a public forum is not where I am going to break that. Needless to say, it’s been one thing after the next.
My grandfather is going well, considering. They are keeping him overnight for observation.
I made white chicken chili tonight for dinner. It was more spicy than I meant for it to be but still yummy. I think I’ve had enough stress for one day. I believe it is bedtime now.
