Thanks for the post from Kirk Wood

I knew I wanted to make the switch to satellite TV, but I had no idea who to buy it from. I really do like to shop online, so I thought I would search a few of my options before making a decision. Of course as soon as I started shopping for my satellite TV service, I found a million other things to do. I shopped for shoes on Zappo’s, paid some of my bills, and then got totally sidetracked reading news. Shopping online is like a black hole for me. Once I get started, it’s really hard for me to stop. I just get so excited, and then forget what I actually logged on for. When I realized that I was not completing the task I had set out to get done, I knew I needed to get focused. I immediately found satellitetvfamily.com, which had some great deals. Instead of going crazy and searching a thousand sites, I decided just to buy from them. They had great deals that I could afford, and I was happy with their service. I’m glad that I didn’t get stuck in the black hole again!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Slim-Fast. All opinions are 100% mine.

I hate dieting. And it’s not that I don’t have the will power or the drive to be successful! I just lack the time and ability to stick with something. While I am not down to my target weight, I have definitely dropped around 30 unwanted pounds and feel so much better for it. But I am always looking for alternatives; I need something easier that I can stick with on my long days at work.

The Slim-Fast 3-2-1 Plan is something of a curiosity for me. It’s all about the packaged deals in regards to meal plans without being things I need to worry about heating up, storing in the fridge (not forgetting in the fridge), etc.

3 snacks (such as Slim-Fast 100-calorie snack bars, veggies, fruits, or nuts.)

2 Slim-Fast shakes or meal bars

1 balanced meal in the 500-calorie count range

Products are available in the pharmacy section of grocery and retail stores nationwide, including Wal-Mart, Target, and even online at Amazon.com! Talk about making it easy to obtain.

Slim-Fast shakes are great for hunger control, providing up to four hours of it and it offers 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, and 24 essential vitamins/minerals. I think I’m going to have to try out both of the chocolate shake flavors: Creamy Milk Chocolate and Rich Chocolate Royale. Yum!

At the very least, it’s worth a shot. It can’t really get much easier than throwing the shakes and snacks into my bag the night before work or even keeping a stockpile in my desk drawer at work. Who knows? Maybe I’ll have found my Thing. Just maybe this is the boost I need to get me to my target weight loss goal and by this time next year? I’ll be wowing everyone at the holiday gatherings.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Snapdragon by Qualcomm. All opinions are 100% mine.

Starting December 18th and going on for about 11 days or so, Qualcomm Stadium (The Q) in San Diego is going to be renamed for the first time since it became Qualcomm (from Jack Murphy or The Murph) back in 1997. It will be called Snapdragon Stadium. Snapdragon processors by Qualcomm are the digital brains inside mobile devices made.

I don’t know about anyone else but I love when stadiums get renamed. Why? I have no idea. I just like change! The stadium is one of the NFL’s oldest stadiums and while she sometimes seems to be falling apart in places, the renaming–though temporarily–is still like a fresh little facelift for the old girl. While renamed, the stadium will play host to a Chargers/Baltimore Ravens Sunday night game and two college bowl games: the Poinsettia Bowl (Dec. 21) and the Holiday Bowl (Dec. 28). As a San Diego native myself, born and raised there, I have only been alive long enough to see The Murph become The Q. Even though this will be only temporary, I still like being a part of that bit of history.

Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are in 300 mobile phones, tablets, etc. and are expected to be in another 350 devices still in development. As Snapdragon processors become more powerful, they are likely to start being put into things like laptops and will start encroaching on a territory previously owned by Intel.

“There’s an incredible focus now on smartphones and tablets,” said Dan Novak, vice president of global marketing for Qualcomm. “What we’re looking to do is raise the volume on awareness for Snapdragon — let people know it is the heart of their smartphone, and then build awareness and eventually preference.”

Side note, according to Scoop San Diego: “The cost for changing the name of the stadium is said to be less than a 30-second commercial at the upcoming Chargers-Ravens game.”  WOW! Smart move there, Qualcomm!

If you somehow have been living under a rock for the last year and however long, you wouldn’t have heard about the whole “internet blacklist” and all of the various censorship attempts that congress has been trying to enact. I am often on sites like “demand progress dot org” and decided to share just a few of these:

Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA)
The AT&T/Comcast “Three Strikes” Censorship Deal
Congress Wants To Make Streaming A Felony
the Internet “Kill Switch”
Mandatory Internet IDs
trying to outlaw WikiLeaks

Oh. And then there is Facebook:
Tell Facebook: Stop Censoring Political Speech

More than 50 blocked pages were political in nature, and several users have had their pages maliciously blocked through fraudulent claims of intellectual property violations. This news follows Facebook’s disturbing assertions that it’s willing to work with government censors in places like China, and that the company is worried that it sometimes provides “too much” free speech.
Excerpt from the demandprogress site

I’m sorry. Aren’t people outspoken about these sorts of things being done in China, Egypt, etc and yet it’s in motion to happen here? I don’t even have any words for my feelings on that stupidity.

Thanks to Wm Rowe

I have learned so much from cooking by watching the Food Network. My husband loves the fact that I have gotten into watching the food network because I have been trying all sorts of new recipes. When we first got married, I did not do much cooking. We both had good jobs and I did not enjoy cooking that much, so we ate out quite a bit. However, after the birth of our first child, I started working only part time, and we no longer had the budget to eat out all of the time. Since then I have grown to enjoy cooking. Every day my husband comes home from work and takes the kids for an hour so I can cook dinner. It has become my time to relax. I have some time to myself, and I really enjoy trying the new dishes. We have also saved a lot of money because we are eating out less. Overall, my love of cooking has been a great thing for our family. I never knew that I would love cooking so much, and my husband has never been so glad that we have Direct tv.

I just have like zero energy. I wound up in the dentist chair on Tuesday for a two and a half hour session where they did a root canal and removed the remains of my broken tooth. The antibiotics they gave me wind up making me feel a little icky and then I started getting really severe heartburn. Apparently that is normal? Thanks for the warning, pharmacist. On top of that, they gave me vicodin for the pain. I would say that I’ve never slept better but Charlie has been even more obnoxious lately and is keeping me awake. I have stitches in my mouth. Ugh.

*curls back up in bed*

But yes, this and more would be why I failed so hardcore at the 30-day posting thing. And NaNoWriMo. Whatevs.

About Me

"So I'm a little left of center. I'm a little out of tune..." I am a 20-something redheaded woman. I do not give out my exact age not out of paranoia or a sense of being old but because I am too lazy to make sure this is always up to date every year after my birthday. I am not looking for love, I am not looking for children, and I am not exactly your average single female. I am a geek at heart as well as a secret princess. I have the soul of a gypsy while craving Home. I am diplomatic and am allergic to drama. And coconuts. And anything in the onion family. I have two cats, Charlie and Lili. But most importantly, I am not afraid of who I am.
